Actually the one who got famous with cradling the ball like a running back as she slashed through multiple defenders was MoJeff. I was wrong. Sorry, but it won't be the last.

I created the momandapplepie moniker years ago naively thinking it would influence people with whom I was debating on the internet to be civil. I mean, who doesn't like mom and apple pie? What can be more American than that? Alas...it did not work as planned. Some of the people whose views differ from mine had no reservations about being nasty to momandapplepie. No sense in changing it now. I was thinking about going with 'motherteresa' but even that moniker would not inoculate me against nastiness. The internet's anonymity combined with human nature is truly a toxic brew. There's no doubt that you've got to have thick skin and endless tolerance to debate with anyone on the internet. I also lament the lack of civility that inhabits that space. I expect to find boorish behavior. What I find difficult to deal with are those people mired in their own hubris and ignorance yet feel unfettered or restrained in any way from expressing baseless opinions devoid of facts and substance. As an educated poster, I have to deal with this ad nauseum.

Mo could cradle the ball looking like my favorite football player, Jerome "The Bus" Bettis....as well as break ankles!!!! Oops. It was Mo Jeff. My bad. Dangerfield did it, too. Either she noticed its effectiveness for MoJeff or the younger ladies on travel teams had started to pick it up and then continued in college.
