Even the greatest shooters have slumps. Currently Steph Curry is going through one of the biggest slumps of his career. And some consider Steph to be the greatest pure shooter to ever play in the NBA. It happens eventually to all great shooters. Katie Lou shot 47 percent as a JR from the 3 point line and fell to 37 percent when she was a SR, which is what CW is currently shooting. I would like to be a fly on the wall when Paige is with her doctor and Geno discussing her progress and when or if she is ever going to get back to 100 percent this year. Keeping my fingers crossed that the BFF emerge tonight in the BE championship game and they take that momentum into the NCAA's. I am not saying that UCONN requires Paige and Azzi to play at their highest potential together tonight to beat Villanova. There are many scenarios that UCONN can win the game and the BFF combo is what I"m hoping to see. Not something that has to happen for UCONN to win tonight.
One thing is obvious, Paige is calling the shots. No one else. When she is ready to start and play 30 minutes, she will let Geno know and he will allow Paige to make the decision. Remember that Geno related that in Paige's final doctor's consult that the doctors did not talk at all about her physical situation, they talked about her mental challenges when coming back to play in a game, after the initial readjustment of playing in practices. SO that confirms what Jerry is saying; Bueckers will be the first to know what she feels up to in minutes.

Not having ON-O in last Villanova game greatly caused 'Nova's 37-21 hugely unexpected rebound gap. Two Villanova players had 10 and 12 rebounds. Edwards had 1 rebound in 30 minutes. Juhasz had 1 rebound in 20 minutes. Top UConn rebounder was Westbrook at 5 rebounds in 33 minutes. Next up were the guards Fudd and Muhl with 4 rebounds apiece. With ON-O back, Villanova can't just focus on double boxing out either Edwards or Juhasz, so I suspect the UConn bigs will have many more rebounds than 2 in this game. I'd project over 20 rebounds by the bigs. Plus many of those 50-50 pinball OR's that Villanova players out hustled UConn for, or simply they were lucky to be in the right place, could well be more balanced this time. Muhl, Edwards, Williams, Fudd and Ducharme will be diving and hitting the floor this game.

This is the team I wanted us to face in the Championship game. They took it to our short-handed team last time and ended up celebrating on our court. They manhandled us (sans ONO) on the boards too, to the tune of 37-21. But revenge is, as they say, a dish best served cold. Tonight I fully expect the Huskies to deliver a heaping helping!
Go Huskies!

Tip off in about 30 minutes.
My focus is on how they play the second half, especially CW. She is so sucessful driving into the forest... and being fouled.

CW has looked like a player on a mission at the beginning of both of our previous games. It will be interesting to see if she can pull it off again tonight. Yes...she can draw fouls but it seems like she has trouble hitting pressure FTs. It seems like she misses a lot of them at the end of close games...although she is hitting .678 of them overall, sixth best on the team.

Still she drives the lane like a half back.

Good point. CW is 1-3 in the tournaament. The team is 14-23. Still she drives the lane like a half back. Like that play against Marquette where she cradled the ball with both arms, split through two defenders like a running back, and then uncoiled to make the layup.

Actually the one who got famous with cradling the ball like a running back as she slashed through multiple defenders was MoJeff.

Caroline had a good night: 9 points in 16 minutes on 4-6 shooting, 1-1 3s, 5 rebounds, no fouls and one turn over.
