This is now my favorite team. In my view they persevered through challenges others I have known have not. Geno's comments that they lost a game many thought they would not be in included me. I thought making it to the E8 was the cherry on top.
His point that their defense was enough to win the game, but the offense was not seemed on point.
It's a team sport and UConn is known for having great teams. This one tops my list for cohesion because the five on the bench who could not play were an intrgral part of it.
UConn was one of four teams in the Final Four, the only one playing with a roster of eight, only seven - three Seniors and four Freshmen - in the box.
Finally, there were 356 DI programs that did not play in the Final Four.

My own personal favorite team remains the 2015-16 team...the senior year for Stewie, MoJeff, and Tuck. I loved the ultra rare comfort of KNOWING in advance, not hoping, that UConn was going to win. I do not remember that team raising my blood pressure during games at all. I could just calmly sit back and wait for the inevitable 20-point run to bury the other team. The absurdity of both a FourPeat and an 111-game winning streak are part of my calculus as well.
This year's team certainly faced more adversity than that one and probably had more heart too...by necessity. But the 2015-16 team is still my all-time favorite for the reasons stated above.
We all have our own perspectives. I'd be interested in hearing from other board members about their favorite team....
