Anyone up for cloning Pat Summit? That inexcusable loss to SC was the tipping point.

A couple of things. There is surprise here. But it has to do with the timing. Last year the AD extended her contract and gave her a raise. No one thought that he pull the plug this fast.
She has no top 150 recruits coming in. The cupboard is close to bare with the two top players headed to the WNBA. She did well with the portal (for a megatalent player), but little depth. UT did not host round 1 and 2 games in the NCAA.
She had a mediocre record before she arrived and nothing suggested a quick turnaround.
The Pat Summit connections are fraying. I have been here ten years abn she was gone before I got here. They have to go outside the family or this will happen again in 3 years.
The men's team has eclipsed the women's team. Who would have ever believed that. If you go oto the aresa, there are banners for the Lady Vols for National Championships, SEC champpiuons, FF, Sweet 16s.
The men have one banner for one elite 8 finish (next year iti will be two). The hmen sell out. I can go to a Lady Vol game a half hour early and sit five or tnw rons benind the bench.
The men have never been to a FF. and while they were up in Detroit continuing that streak, it seemed like a good chance to slip in an announcement.

Tennessee has not been a title threat ever since Pat stepped down. Sadly, I anticipate the exact same thing happening to us when Geno retires. I mean....who wants to follow the GOAT?! Maybe ex-Vol players aren't the best people to hire as coaches. Our mole in Knoxville Rich is closest to the action. Maybe he can give us some insight as to who UT is targeting as a replacement. Interestingly, UT waited until 1 Apr 24 to fire Harper for financial reasons. If she had been fired before April 1, she would've received 100 percent of the compensation she was owed through April 14, 2027. But since she was fired on April 1, she will only receive 50 percent of the compensation she's owed from April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2028 (the end of her contract). Instead of paying Harper $1.1 million a year through 2027, the university now 'only' has to pay her $550,000 a year through 2028. But still....half a mil a year for the next 4 years for doing nothing isn't too shabby. www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/why-danny-white-waited-until-april-fools-day-to-fire-lady-vols-hc-kellie-harper/ar-BB1kTiD7?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=1099e452618943fc8d857ea8bc7ac950&ei=15

There is a huge negative here. With Holly and Jolly (Kelly's maiden name), the program has declined. But Holly kept them in the conversations about the best programs. Now Jolly has run the program out of the top tiers all together
But at some point, they are going to get a good coach who might wake up the echoes

Legacies are difficult to perpetuate. John Wooden's UCLA won his last NC in 1975, a feat which recurred twenty years later in 1995 and none since.
