This game is going to be another St. Valentine's Day Massacre...95 years after the original. Far and away the best team in the Big East against far and away the worst team in the Big East. To minimize injury risk, I would not play any starter for more than the first half. The game will be well over by then. Let the bench play the entire second half.
But wait...we can't do that because we only have 9 players! Okay...maybe KK and Shade split second half minutes in support of a core four of Ice, DeBerry, Q, and Inez. Paige, Edwards, and Nika should only get a short workout today.
Really...I'm not sure I can even watch today. I will feel so sorry for Xavier's players. That is how much of a rout I think this game is going to be.

Thanks for launching us, Russ, I'll be watching the ESPN box, play-by-play and gamecast at www.espn.com/womens-college-basketball/game/_/gameId/401604665/uconn-xavier
While Massey has #4 UConn beating #289 Xavier 86-43 it could be better or worse than that depending on whether the starters are in the zone and how much Geno plays the bench. It's interesting that UConn is ranked #15/14 on AP and Coaches, yer #3, 4 or 5 on the others: Massey, Sonny Moore, Her Hoop Stats, Real RPI and NCAA NET. Anyone know why?
With nine games remaining before the NCAA we need the starters coalesced and the bench, especially Ice & Q, the best they can be by then.

Not much to say. The game was pretty much the grossly one-sided affair I had feared it would be.
We learned nothing from this game. The only takeaway from this game for me was Ice's performance. Yes, it was against a patsy but she put up some good numbers and probably had the best game of her fledgling career. Maybe this gives her a boost of confidence going forward....

It's a matter of expectations. I learned long... long... long... long ago that expectations are a set up for disappointment, even depression. (In the eighth grade, Carolyn, my first love, the girl I expected to live with the rest of my life, dumped me for being a jerk.)
I have replaced expectation with accepting what happens and dealing with it the best I can which is one reason I follow UConn. That's what Geno does. We have five starters who can play with anyone, but, without Aubrey, there is no sixth man as we had in the last four NC's: Bria, Kiah, Kiah and Pheesa.
Our bench is Ice and Q. Both are talented Freshmen who need experience. They got some yesterday. Ice with a double, double in 24 minutes and Q, 2 rebounds short of a double, double in 23 minutes. Granted it was against a weaker team, but it was a real game. There are eight more before the NCAA. The better Ice and Q are then the better our chances to go deeper into the tournament. I feel confident about making the S16 and hope everyone is in the zone thereafter. After what we have been through this year making the E8 would be huge. If we make the FF I'll put 911 on autodial. I'm a big fan of commitment to excellence and persistence. This team has both. No prior team ranks higher than this on for me.
